Plant Your Own Kiki's Garden

In honor of Krista on her birthday, today April 29th, we are asking all who love her to plant a Kiki's Garden for her this spring.  It could be a large vegetable garden, a small butterfly garden or even one potted sunflower.  Whatever the size or make up your garden, please think of Krista as you watch it bloom and grow.  If you would like to send us a picture of your garden, we will post it on the new Kiki's Garden website.  It is our goal, as we get the Kiki's Garden, The Krista Weller Burns Foundation off the ground, to have Kiki's Gardens all over the globe honoring our beautiful angel.  Peace to all.

Please email all Kiki's Garden photos to kikisgarden(AT)hotmail(DOT) com

A Single Spotlight

A SINGLE SPOTLIGHT
 by Peter Lamberton
(in remembrance of Krista Weller Burns)

A smile so bright, it lit the night
A twinkle in the eye
A friendly word was always heard
For every passerby

How one so young could do so much
A marvel to behold
The makings of a well-lived life
In someone twice as old

The knowledge base – so broad, so deep
And gladly shared by she
No brag, just fact, no fancy act
In rapture, we would be

I’d never done a musical
And there I was, with you
In dance routines and other means
You really pulled me through

Despite all that, you asked me back
And why, I’ll never guess
To be a part of gala night
Of course, I answered “Yes”

The lines were learned for Friday’s scene
And songs for cabaret
The special warmth; the sheer delight
Is re-played every day

You pitched right in; you played to win
And never got annoyed
With costumes, lights; with props; with sound
But now, alas, a void

It’s intermission now, my dear
Then places for Act Two
Where those of us still left behind
Ask “What would Krista do?”

We know an angel’s got our back
Whatever stage or show
The spirit’s there - the warmth, the light
An incandescent glow

So, darlin’, thanks for everything
Rest well, with no more pain
Until that final curtain call
Where all will meet again

To My Sister- I know you are with me

My Sister--I Miss You

(This is what Amber presented at Krista's  memorial service.)

I have had the honor of being Krista’s sister.
The memories that we have shared have been diverse in their nature.
Some have been life altering in magnitude and others purely innocent.
It is however the ones that, at the time seem insignificant and unmemorable, that will be the most
powerful.
I will forever cherish the summer cookouts,
 relaxing on the beach,
 shopping on Saturdays
shopping on Sundays,
 hanging out at the gym.
These are the times when sisters are more than sisters , they are BEST  friends.
Some of our deepest conversations revolved around nothing at all, I will miss these simple times.
Quite often during our talks she would sometimes outburst and say “your not listening to me!”
Well Krista,  you will be pleased to know, I heard every word and I will remember them for the rest of
my life.
I am very proud of  you Krista.  In a life cut short you accomplished so much and taught me so many
lessons.  To me you are the symbol of strength and persistence.
I have always been inspired by Krista’s ability to follow her dreams and aspirations regardless of the
situation, obstacles, or naysayers.
She had big dreams
And a big heart to follow them
I’d like to use some words from one of Krista’s favorite musicals - Mary Poppins

Anything can happen when you let it….
if reach for the stars all you get are the stars
but we’ve found a whole new spin
If you reach for the heavens you get the stars thrown in.
Anything can happen if you let it.
Life is out there waiting so go and get it!
Krista didn’t aim for the stars, she aimed for the heavens
That’s a powerful lesson

Krista, I will miss you so very very much.
But I know I don’t have to go too far to find you.
All I need to do is look around and I will be reminded of your spirit.
Whether it’s a fancy shoe in a shop window,
 the sand beneath my feet,
A song bird in a tree
or a deep look inside myself
I know that you are with me.

Love U!
